In Retrospect .....

You know you're getting old, well at least feeling old, when you decide to stay at home for New Year's Eve instead of out partying like all your girlfriends are.
Ticket to MOS : 35 bucks

Estimation for booze : 40 bucks

Money on cab ride home : 20bucks

Venue : Freaking Expo

Spending New Year's Eve online with boyfriend playing Gin Rummie & Literati online and kicking his butt - priceless!

Funnie we all went round the dinner table last nite at Sakae @ Funan as to how we would be spending NYE nite counting down into the new year. Going to MOS. Going to Clarke Quay. Going to MOS. Going to Orchard to meet another group of friends. Going to a friend's place to countdown to the new year. Going to celebrate my anniversary with my boyfriend. Going home.

Of course, with those last two words i think i got the "What? You're going home to spend NYE?? Are you crazy girl!?" look. *heehee* But it was a choice i made, to stay home and spend it with my guy. Poor guy is all alone in his place so i figured i would stay home with him and keep him company. Though i think i ended up irritating him 'cos i kicked his butt in Gin Rummie and Literati. *heehhee* (Sorrie, Dar. :P Better luck next time. *heehee*)

I did however had an eventful NYE. I had to work till 1pm which wasn't so bad, it's money coming in. Then met a friend for lunch and then two movies : Scary Movie 3 & Mona Lisa Smile. Didn't think much of Scary Movie 3 but i liked Mona Lisa Smile and that movie got me thinking as to what i want for my life. But i will leave my review for those two movies in a later blog.

But here is the most important part of this little blog :

The past year has been filled with eventful happenings, be it good, bad, up or down. First of all, i want to express my infinite gratitudes to my boyfriend, my 'sistas' and all my friends who have been by & with me all these while.

My guy, Darcy :

Classic story. First they met. Then they were friends. Then they were more then friends.

I'm really liking the last part alot.

It meant alot to me when you made your choice back in 3 Sept. and i know i have told you a dozen times, a hundred times, or maybe a thousand times. But if anyone asked what the highlight of 2003 was for me it would be that nite. 13 months, 18 days and counting. Least, we both know that in another year i will be packing my bags to start a life on my own for myself and have you be a part of it. We've toast to the new year and wishing that this year will past by as quickily as last year. 2003 holds memories for us, great times, shared joy and laughter as well as tears. It's been a year filled with bittersweet moments and the road ahead is long and bumpie. Never thought we would be this far into our relationship and those two lines above on the xmas card you sent... when i read it my heart skipped many beats and sent it a flutter. Like i was telling James last nite, i don't expect you to jump into this and do big things all in one go, it's the little things that show ow special i am to you. There are happier times to come and like you said, i might not be there in person but i have always been there in mind and spirit. Life in Red Deer might seem bleak, but so did your time back in Misery. Hang in there, its probably a phase of getting used to the place all over again. If all fails, we can play Gin Rummie, Canasta, Pool, Literati and Checkers online. :) Here's to happie and great memories gone by and many more to come.

My two long time friends from way back in our junior college days, Flo and Lydia :

Flo : Floflo! *heehee* Not so shy anymore these days, eh girl? For someone who was so shy just 8 years ago to even talk to the girl sitting next to her in class (I.E. ME), she is now jetsetting the world on crazy little adventure trips that will make any person's eye turn green with envy. Paris, Sweden, London, Spain, Amsterdam.. oi, can pack me in your suitcase come Jan 24th and take me back with you to Finland? *heehee* From our days of skipping classes to go to cybercafes to chat online, to going for hot fudge sundaes at McDonald's at Northpoint, to walking to school and back to the mrt everyday...don't you just miss those carefree days where all we card was books, boys, having fun, more boys and more having fun. :P 8 years isn't too long, nor it is too short and even though we went our seperate ways with you in Finland and me in Singapore. We're never that far apart. :) You've always been a kind girl attracting all the good fortunes in life which you deserve. Be good, don't let any guy get to you and come visit me in Canada! :P

Lydia : Thanks to Tae who introduce us to each other, we've been on travel trips together (even though it was only to US/ Canada & just last July in Melbourne). This girl is my harshest critic and my bestest buddie at the same time. Always putting me in my place and making sure i stay out of trouble and i'm ever thankful to her for always keeping an eye out for me. (Though, i'm getting to a point where i am chewing with my mouth open again, girl. :P) Never lacking in wit, intellignce, and in the looks department, she is one of the more sensible girls i have met in my life. Sorrie for keeping you up with my horrendous snoring during our road trip along Great Ocean Road and for putting up with me while i was visiting in Melbourne. Lets see where our next travel adventure takes us to. *grin* Who knows you might just end up in London like you've always wanted to and i can go visit and crash in with you again. :P You know i bring trouble with me. :P Here's hoping that the year of 2004 will see you smiling to the tune of a new beau.

My 'sistas' of Ngee Ann MCM class of 2001 :

Debbie, Mala, Nira, Pearlyn, Qinz, Ruth, Yani and our honarary members, Kenneth and Ben. From school projects, to working temp. jobs together, to spending alot of time gathering at someone's place for dinner parties, to drinking sessions and nits out. It's been a good few years of being there for one another, planning surprises for birthdays and who can ever forget camping outside Sakae Sushi @ Wheelock Place at 11am just for it to open and we could gorge our fill on sushi???? Oh an the buffets and racking up $300 in two months for the privilege card. :P Can you imagine us school girls racking up $300 in bills just for sushi in 2 months??? I had a 200 montly allowance and i am sure i spent a good portion on it for sushi. *heehee* All the late nites, final mad dashes to the office to drop in our assignments, panicking when our pc hangs and our assignment gets wiped off. You know sometimes i look back and i wonder, how the hell did we ever survive on 4 hours of sleep when we have deadlines to meet???? :P

You have been my inspiration and driving force when i was in school, and you girls and guys continue to do so even though we've all moved on to a different stage in our lives. No matter what happens we will always rally together to help in anyway we can. The one thing i will miss when i leave is our gatherings and dinner parties, our mind boggling discussions at times, bitching about anything and everything while having coffee at Starbucks. In all i will miss your company, your smiles, and your laughter. Though that doesn't mean you all can't come to visit me when i am in Canada. :P *heehee* Have a great year ahead with your new family, new baby, new careers, new jobs, and a new phase in your life back home in Singapore.
